Bristol Britannia XM497 on display at Cosford Air Museum, in dull, flat light.
This a/c was built at Filton as a Britannia Series 310-312. Originally it was to become G-AOFF, but this changed & it became G-AOVF performing it’s first flight in 1957. Delivered to BOAC & over the years was leased to several different airlines & then sold to several more. Eventually sold to the RAF museum & flown to Cosford in 1984. In 2007 work began on repainting into RAF colours & given the registration XM497 ‘Schedar’, which was a Britannia that actually served with the RAF. (Schedar – The second brightest star in the constellation Cassiopeia)
