This Vulcan nose section is the oldest in existence, taken from the Avro production line in 1952 for use as a test vehicle & converted to a Crew Drill Trainer or “Vulcan Aircraft Escape Simulator”. It was fitted with real Martin Baker ejection seats & ladder, but the control panels were just Photographs. This example was used at RAF Waddington for escape training. Somewhere down the line it ended up in the back of a barn, where it was found & rescued. It was briefly stored at Aeroventure (South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum) before being relocated. It is now on display in the Scampton Heritage Centre.
