The famous SOFIA (“Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy”) can be seen here while leaving snowy Hamburg on a very cold winter morning with some sunshine for an almost 7 hour long testflight. This marked the first departure for N747NA since its arrival in September 2020 for maintenance from the US. This unique aircraft is now getting ready for a series of missions, which will be flown out of Cologne/Bonn for six weeks in February and March 2021.
