The Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) has awarded a new Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to Malindo Airways to become Batik Air starting April 28, 2022.

Batik Air CEO Mushafiz Bin Mustafa Bakri said the change of the airline’s name was in line with the Lion Air Group’s goal of building a common identity for full service airlines. With this change, Batik Air will provide better convenience for passengers by utilizing Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) as a transit airport for Lion Air Group airline flights.

“With the rebranding program and the reopening of flights in the region, we are very pleased to answer the opportunities presented to us for the potential growth of our airline with a new brand. We are optimistic that we will offer fresher and newer services,” he said

Mushafiz said the Batik Air program would be carried out in stages. In accordance with the business strategy, Batik Air will communicate with passengers and partners directly during the launch of this rebranding.According to him, as air travel recovers post-pandemic, Batik Air will add a number of the latest generation and modern Boeing 737 series aircraft to offer full service airlines services to all domestic and international networks.
